3/15 COVID-19 Update
Posted on 03/15/2021
On Monday, March 15th, the Estacada School District was notified that there has been a confirmed exposure of COVID-19 in the Estacada School District at the district level.  Every person who came in close contact with the individual has been notified and has been asked to begin self-isolation* and symptom monitoring on March 15th. This individual was an adult, and all close contacts are also adults. In order to protect the privacy of the individual, this will be the only information released by the district about this individual.

An additional notable COVID-19 case was reported today that has no known link to the first case. At this time there have still been no COVID-19 cases at any point during the pandemic that have been a result of on-campus spread.
The second COVID-19 case reported and confirmed today occurred at Estacada High School’s March 12th football game. The individual that later tested positive is now at home self-isolating and monitoring for symptoms. Every person who came in close contact with the individual has been notified and has been asked to begin self-isolation* and symptom monitoring on March 15th. This individual was an adult. In order to protect the privacy of the individual, this will be the only information released by the district about this individual.

Based on the recommendations from the County Public Health Department, the following initial measures and extra precautions are being put in place:

  • Some bus routes may be temporarily consolidated through this week due to limited transportation staffing. Some students may have slightly adjusted pickup and drop-off times. More information will be released if routes are significantly altered
  • Both our transportation facilities, school buses, and athletic facilities will all receive additional deep cleaning
  • Several EHS staff members, athletics staff members, and athletics students have been asked to quarantine until March 21st
  • At this time athletic events can continue as scheduled, and no student-athletes have tested positive as of March 15th
  • Athletic events will continue with a reduced coaching staff, due to several members being asked to quarantine

We will continue to communicate key updates as this develops, and further data can be found on our COVID-19 dashboard here: http://www.estacada.k12.or.us/cms/one.aspx?pageId=50089543. Our COVID-19 dashboard is updated every 24 hours.

Student and staff safety will always be a priority in the Estacada School District. All building closure decisions are made in collaboration with local public health and the Oregon Department of Education. All decisions made are in alignment with the rigorous metrics established by the State of Oregon.

The best way to prevent the spread of COVID-19 is through wearing a face covering, practicing physical distancing, and practicing good health hygiene habits. Be sure to wash your hands frequently with soap and water, cover your coughs and sneezes, and avoid contact with people who have signs of illness. Stay home if you are feeling ill or have COVID-19 symptoms.

Additional informational resources are available on the Oregon Department of Education’s Ready Schools, Safe Learners page, and the Oregon Health Authority’s COVID-19 page. *If those exposed to COVID-19 have had both COVID-19 vaccinations and are 14 days post second vaccine, they will not be required to quarantine per CDC guidelines.
