Measures of Academic Progress (MAP)

Measures of Academic Progress® (MAP®) creates a personalized assessment experience by adapting to each student’s learning level. After all student's have tested, we have assessment data—and essential information about what each student knows and is ready to learn within 24 hours.

The MAP assessment provides us with valuable information about student's academic strengths and weaknesses while there is still time for teachers to help make a difference.

Smarter Balanced

The Smarter Balanced approach includes a number of differences from most state assessments today.

  • These assessments will be administered online and will go beyond multiple choice questions to include performance tasks that allow students to demonstrate research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • In addition to a year-end test, teachers will be able to administer interim assessments throughout the school year to monitor student progress and make adjustments to instruction.
  • Accommodations for students with disabilities and English language learners will be built into the system so that the progress of students can be accurately measured.
  • An online reporting system will provide clear, easy-to-understand data on student achievement and growth. These reports will present parents, teachers, principals, and other local and state leaders with information they can use to help students make even greater progress. Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA)

Beginning in fall 2013, school districts began implementing the new statewide Kindergarten Assessment in early literacy, early math and approaches to learning. The assessment is designed to focus on domains that are strongly linked to 3rd grade reading and future academic success as well as to align with current assessment practices in Oregon’s kindergarten and elementary schools. The information provides a snapshot for communities and schools on the fluency, numeracy, and approaches to learning skills that students have when they enter kindergarten.
