On January 14th, the Oregon Health Authority authorized a shift in how schools will notify families if their child was exposed to COVID-19 at school.
With the updated guidance, schools will shift to a general notification of potentially exposed students in the event of a positive case of COVID-19 through ParentSquare. Families will now receive a notification if their child was exposed to a positive case in their classroom.

With this new authorization, families of students exposed to COVID-19 will be expected to assume responsibility and keep their child home, using this guidance:

  • All students that were notified of an on-campus exposure while wearing face coverings will not be required to quarantine, but families should monitor their children for symptoms and keep them home if they are unwell
  • Unvaccinated students that were exposed on-campus in an unmasked setting (lunchtime, physical education) will be asked to quarantine or participate in our test-to-stay program
  • Schools will expect families to abide by public health requirements and keep their children home (quarantine) when exposed outside of school
It remains incredibly important that families are monitoring their children for symptoms and do not send them to school if they are unwell. Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our students safe and our schools open.
